The way we work

Managing change more comfortably

Your knowledge of your business, your clients or customers and their needs, and your staff is much greater than ours (at least to start with). If we had a motto, it might be "We are the grit, you are the oyster". The point of asking us to advise or assist your organisation is to help create pearls - for you.

You may have a current issue - maybe falling profitability, or a problem in attracting new clients. Perhaps it's as simple as obtaining PI Insurance cover at sensible prices, or a need to tick more boxes in tender bids.  Or to attract quality staff.

What we do

We can apply our diagnostic experience to solving that issue. That will usually lead to a written, costed Proposal - in effect, a statement of the issue and its resolution that we can agree on and set target dates. Arrangements for delivering our advice and perhaps creating a discussion group within your organisation will need to be agreed at the outset. An early without-commitment meeting will enable you to check whether we know our stuff and whether you would be comfortable working with us.

We will propose a programme of work - an "Action Plan", as part of a costed fees Proposal.  You must be ready to set aside sufficient time to make it achievable. We will need access to experts and influencers within your organisation, so that when the preliminary talking is over we have an Action Plan that can be implemented and isn't unrealistic. Your junior staff will sometimes have valuable contributions to make.

Involving your people

We exist to propose or assist with change. Change is uncomfortable and often disliked - after all, pearls are formed because the oyster is irritated by the grit. Involving your staff, and having good communication with them, maybe enabling them to influence that change, can often lead to staff "buy-in" that reduces that discomfort.

Afterwards

Finally, we do not aspire to become a life support system for your organisation. We prefer to complete a task that has defined objectives and then depart knowing that you are confident to run things yourselves. If you happen to enjoy the experience and want us back, fine. If you feel able to recommend us to a friend or business contact, we will be even happier!
